Purpose and Reason:

Effective June 1, 2009, individuals with countable family income from 133% to 150% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) will no longer be required to pay a monthly premium in order to maintain eligibility for the RIte Care Program. In addition, the monthly cost share premium will be decreased for individuals with countable family income from 150% to 250% of the Federal Poverty Level.

Brief statement of Reason for Finding Imminent Peril:

Under the authority of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and in an effort to promote economic recovery, the Department of Human Services believes the emergency adoption of the rules is necessary to address the needs of RI citizens in the current economy.
